This breastfeeding basics class is currently provided free to all for a limited time through our MI Empowered Family Grant.
This class will teach you the basics of breastfeeding from getting a good latch, to how you know if your baby is getting enough milk, common breastfeeding troubleshooting, and so much more. The class is taught by Natosha Sage-El Bylsma IBCLC of Next Generation Lactation Services. RSVP is required to attend this class.

Looking for a doula? Trying to figure our what the heck a doula is? Know the basics but are curious what benefits comes with having a doula? Come to our free Meet the Doulas event! We have birth doulas, postpartum doulas, bereavement doulas, and more! There will be a chance to meet doulas, ask questions, and interview a variety to find the one that is the right fit for you. Many of our doulas accept Medicaid insurances, which completely cover many doula services, and all our doulas offer payment plans.
RSVP is not required, but does help us make sure there’s adequate seating prepared.

CommUNITY of Families Festival 2025
This Summer on September 27th we are hosting our second annual CommUNITY of Families event on the lawn of the Willow Tree Family Center. This event's goal is to connect and celebrate health, wellness, and Lansing families.
Willow Tree Family Center is dedicated to creating the resources to support Lansing Families and help them thrive. Our event will include vendor and resource tables, food, presenters, care providers to interview, a free baby-item store, a kids area and more!
If you are a vendor who would like to get a table, send us a message. Otherwise, no RSVP is needed for this event, but we would appreciate if you share the word, and say you are going to our event on Facebook!

Newborn Care Class
This newborn care class is provided FREE to everyone for a limited time as part of the MI Empowered Family Grant.
This class covers all the basics of newborn care from diapering, bathing, fingernails, well-baby check-ups and more to help you feel empowered as you being your journey as a family.

Breastfeeding Basics Class
This breastfeeding basics class is currently provided free to all for a limited time through our MI Empowered Family Grant.
This class will teach you the basics of breastfeeding from getting a good latch, to how you know if your baby is getting enough milk, common breastfeeding troubleshooting, and so much more. The class is taught by Natosha Sage-El Bylsma IBCLC of Next Generation Lactation Services. RSVP is required to attend this class.

Infant CPR Class
This infant CPR class is currently provided free to everyone through the MI Empowered Family Grant!
This class covers everything you need to know to respond to an emergency with your baby. With hands-on practice and an experienced teacher, you can feel confident in keeping your baby safe. RSVP is required to take this class.

This class covers all of the tools to help your baby and yourself get a good nights sleep. It provides an understanding of biological infant sleep and gentle methods to help you both succeed in getting the rest you need. RSVP is required to attend this class.

November Babywearing Meet-Up
Come join us for our free November babywearing meetup. Peer to peer support for babywearing will be available. You can bring your carriers for help with them or try one of the carriers from our library. If you would like to check out a carrier from the library, it is a $30 annual fee to be a member of the lending library (can be paid via PayPal).

Childbirth Education for Home Birth
Alexandra Harper-Brees, a doula and childbirth educator with 9 years of experience, and home-birthing mother of 3, teaches this FREE 4 hour childbirth education class focused on those planning to birth at home. This class is for those planning a home birth with a homebirth midwife. Normally priced at $100, thanks to the MI Empowered Family grant it is free to everyone for a limited time.

Free Store Open
The Willow Tree Community Free store is a collection of gently-used maternity, baby, and family items that are completely free for members of the Lansing community. Whether you are looking for a stroller, a bunch of onesies, a breast pump, or more, we may have it in the free store! RSVP is not necessary for our free store hours.
We are currently setting up a schedule of free store hours. Contact us to learn when it will be open or to request browsing of the free store by appointment. Also contact us to donate items, or leave gently used items on the tables at the side porch of Willow Tree.
